As cricket is back in full swing, so are The R66T Academy High Performance Program graduates, with Charley Philips taking the spotlight as being named in the England A Squad to face India A in both 50-over and T20 Series. The seam bowler is the joint-leading wicket-taker in this season’s Metro Bank One Day Cup, having claimed 18 scalps at an average of just 13.44, with a best haul of 5/49. The first of the T20 fixtures are set to take place on Saturday 20th, Tuesday 23rd and Thursday 25th June at the County Ground in Hove, with the 50-over series then being played on Sunday 28th June, and Wednesday 1st and 4th July at Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton.
Charley’s striking achievements don’t stop there in her cricketing career, as last week during The Blaze Women v Warwickshire Women T20 Match at Trent Bridge. The seam bowler aided her team to victory during the game, where she achieved 4 wickets against the opposing team. Charley’s outstanding bowling contributed to her teams victory, winning by 11 runs. This standout performance resulted in Charley being named as the player of the match.
All of her achievements present a solid season for the young player, as she will be in the iconic yellow and red Trent Rocket’s Women’s kit as part of The Hundred, with her first fixture against the Birmingham Phoenix on the 24th July 2026 at Edgbaston Stadium playing alongside England’s Women’s Captain, Nat Sciver-Brunt.
The bowlers journey began in 2021 when she first joined the High Performance Program in Adelaide, Australia. Undergoing coaching from High Performance Director and Joe Root’s former Coach, Shaun Seigert, she showed hard work and dedicated to improving her skills across the 10 week program. Shaun Seigert said, “Congratulations to Charley on another step in her career. It's a reflection of her hard work in being selected for England A women's team. Wishing her all the best and continued development in this well deserved opportunity.”
Her achievements show a true insight into her journey as a young cricket player, whose continuing development is just the beginning of an exciting summer ahead! The R66T Academy wishes her the best of luck during this season.
