High Performance Program graduate Alfie Ogborne has been named in the England Lions squad for the upcoming four-day match against South Africa A, beginning on Friday 22 May 2026 at Arundel.
The 22-year-old left-arm bowler began his journey with the R66T Academy’s High Performance Program during the 2022/23 season. During his time on the program, Ogborne worked on taking his bowling skills to the next level under the guidance of High Performance Director and former coach to England star Joe Root, Shaun Seigert.
Shaun Seigert said: “Alfie Ogborne joined our High Performance Program in January 2022. While he showed great potential as a left-arm quick, it was his work ethic and desire to improve every day that really stood out.
“His progression since then has been outstanding, and this call-up is thoroughly deserved. We wish him the very best of luck with the England Lions.”
Based in Adelaide, Australia, the High Performance Program provides elite development opportunities for cricketers looking to advance their game while also growing personally through new experiences and challenges. The program offers players from around the world access to high-level coaching, training, and guidance in an environment designed to push athletes beyond their comfort zones and maximise their potential both on and off the field.
Former England captain Joe Root attended the program in 2009/10 under the guidance of Shaun Seigert before going on to make his Test debut two years later and establish himself as one of England’s leading batters.
Registrations are now open for the 2026/27 High Performance Program for players hoping to follow in the footsteps of Joe Root and Alfie Ogborne.
Alfie’s selection for the England Lions marks an exciting milestone following his time on the program, and everyone at R66T Academy wishes him continued success in his cricket career.
